- Laine Johnson grew up in a co-op in Nepean, attended Canterbury High School and got both her undergraduate in Psychology and her Masters in Philanthropy and Non-Profit Leadership at Carleton University.
- Laine has held Executive leadership positions with Synapcity, a local non-profit devoted to public participation with the City of Ottawa, as well as Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation (CCOC), a non-profit housing corporation. She is a co-founder of the Ottawa Community Land Trust. She has worked with the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, the Public Policy Forum, and the Great Canadian Theatre Company. As a volunteer, she worked with Ottawa Victim Services and the Ottawa Art Gallery. She has been a board member with Just Change.
- Laine lives in College Ward with her husband, who is a small business owner, and their two children.
- Laine is a member of the Emergency Preparedness and Protective Services Committee; the Planning and Housing Committee; and the Transportation Committee. She also represents the City of Ottawa at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).
