Ice Storm Update

Dear Neighbour,

Yesterday's storm resulted in widespread power losses throughout the city, as well as many downed trees and tree branches. With the weather warming up, we should have some relief soon.

Hydro Ottawa, Hydro Ontario, and City of Ottawa staff are working around the clock to resolve the many problems facing residents today. Please see some important updates below.

Last weekend, we had a couple of big storms bringing wet, heavy snow. We all love “Snowman snow”, but its heavy weight can be very challenging to manoeuvre.

It was pretty, but caused a lot of transit and traffic delays, and cut off electricity to many areas, including several short-term outages...

Motion to review Advisory Committees

I’m bringing a motion to Council today focusing on our citizen Advisory Committees and other volunteer bodies that advise Councillors on important issues.

The Council Governance report recommends staff review this, for the first time in 10 (or possibly 20) years. The current structure has existed since before amalgamation. The world is a very different place and our participatory processes should reflect our current reality...
